Seismic & Silent, 2020
Being slightly ahead of the curve, so to speak, I had Covid 19 during the two weeks prior to the first full lock-down in the UK & Ireland. This meant that I emerged from our self imposed quarantine, fit & well again, with the virus behind me - just as the rest of the country retreated into their homes. It was a surreal & seismic moment & one which I was fortunate enough to capture. There wasn't a daily walk taken or grocery shop done without my camera in hand - I wasn't sure what I was photographing, but it felt important to photograph & document the moment. In retrospect, it was an eerie, calm silence that I captured. Streets devoid of cars & people for possibly the only time in our lifetime.
Watching the seasons & nature brush on through the human lockdown was a source (as ever) of great hope.
The work was pubished as a photography feature in Perspective Magazine, 2021.
